ABOUT US

SCP follows a creative curriculum aligned with PA Keystone Stars and is designed through a collaborative effort that reflects SCP’s Mission, Vision and Core Values.  We focus on the child as an individual and the relationships that support growth and development.

Our curriculum introduces environmental knowledge and sensitivity; and encourages exploration and self-discovery through hands-on, experiential learning.

Walks to nearby Carpenter Woods provide a living laboratory for learning, play, and relationship development. We advise parents that your children will get dirty on occasion as they immerse themselves in this outdoor learning environment. Rainwear, boots, and a change of clothes are an important part of your child’s school supplies.

Our curriculum addresses cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development in addition to language and literacy, mathematical thinking, scientific thinking, social studies thinking, creative thinking and expression, health and wellness, and approaches to learning through a play based, hands on pedagogy.

The SCP staff understand that children learn best when they are involved in their learning through hands-on, interactive experiences. We believe that play is the work of children and it is our job to enhance that play in order to develop the academic foundational skills children will need as they prepare for Kindergarten and beyond. SCP employs a distinctive curriculum that focuses on children’s individual interests and skill development while encouraging the skills of communication, self-regulation, resiliency, connection, compassion, collaboration, and adaptability.
